Report: Trump Asked Why “pretty Korean Lady” Hostage Expert Wasn’t Negotiating With North Korea

President Trump reportedly asked a career intelligence analyst where her “people” were from before calling her a “pretty Korean lady” during an Oval Office meeting last fall.

Given her expertise in hostage policy, the female analyst was asked to brief the president on the upcoming release of a family that was being held in Pakistan. According to NBC, it was her first encounter with the president.

According to two officials familiar with the meeting, Trump asked her where she was from when the meeting was over. She told him she was from New York, but Trump continued to press her.

The analyst told the president she was from Manhattan, like him, but he wanted to know where “your people” are from.

Once she told Trump that her parents are Korean, he turned to another adviser in the room and asked why the “pretty Korean lady” isn’t helping the administration on negotiating with North Korea.

The sources who spoke to NBC on condition of anonymity due to the nature of the meeting said his comment seemed to suggest that her Korean heritage should determine her career path.

This comes after Trump reportedly referred to El Salvador, Haiti, and African nations as “shithole countries” which raised eyebrows and led to accusations of racism.

While the White House didn’t deny the comments, Trump sent a flurry of tweets on Friday morning claiming that he did not make the disparaging comments about Haitians, but he did use “tough language” in the meeting.
